Challenge:
EPL was contacted to upgrade the lighting and install automatic controls in a 111 year old building. Most circuits were not grounded. The light levels were 75 to 100 fc in individual offices. Fixture lenses were old and yellow and there were paracube louvers in many fixtures. We had to make it pay for itself in less than 5 years even though it was partially upgraded a few years earlier.
Solution:
EPL increased the efficiency of the lighting system by modifying the existing fixture. This included new ballasts, lamps, white reflector, and lens. Just by updating the lens and reflector EPL increased the efficiency by 15+%. Installed high efficiency lamps and ballasts, removed unneeded fixtures and moved fixtures to where light was needed. Adjusted light levels in offices to 30 fc and hallways to 10 fc Grounded circuits to enable occupancy sensors throughout the building. Extended performance lamps and ballasts were installed to minimize future maintenance costs.
