Energy performance Lighting (EPL), a McFarland, WI-based energy efficient lighting design firm has been awarded the contract to upgrade the lighting at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
EPL is supplying its customized lighting designs and installing a project that will see the university cut lighting energy consumption by 70 per cent in existing buildings.
"We have done many important and sizeable projects in schools—it’s where we got the business started. This is our first university project and it represents a real milestone for us as we expand into the post-secondary education market across the United States," EPL managing partner and lead designer Rod Heller said.
"Energy efficient lighting projects are great for colleges and universities because they are a cost-effective way to lower energy costs, enhance sustainability, and improve everyone’s comfort in the buildings. We're confident that the students, faculty, staff and the greater community of Platteville will be pleased with the results."
The university expects the project to generate upwards of $196 thousand in annual energy savings from reduced energy purchases.
EPL is a sub-contractor providing energy efficient lighting design and installation to McKinstry Essention Ltd., a Seattle-based energy services contracting company.
